Other Ways to Help

Support Shelter

There are many ways you can support our shelter — every bit of help makes a difference!

Food
Both dry and canned food are needed. Our animals have been eating the same type of food for several years, and any sudden change causes immediate digestive issues. That’s why we collect donations for food or ask you to contribute directly to the supplier we work with. If you’d prefer to buy food yourself, please choose Versale Laga (for most of our animals) or Brit (for those undergoing treatment).

Bedding
We always need pillows, blankets, bed sheets, old clothes, quilts — anything soft and warm. Many tiny puppies who just opened their eyes live in the shelter, and on cold, rainy days, they long for the warmth of their lost mothers. These materials help keep them cozy. We also use bedding for animals in our isolation unit, for disabled animals, and to line outdoor kennels in wet weather.
Medical pee pads are especially needed for disabled animals. We also constantly need cat litter, and compressed wood pellets (like those used in heating stoves) are perfect.

Building Materials
We are constantly building and repairing. We need cement, wire mesh, fence posts, wood for doghouses, foam blocks, insulation, paint, garden hoses, work gloves, nails, screws — and any tools you might no longer need: hammers, screwdrivers, drills, shovels, rakes, weed trimmers, lawnmowers, etc.

Animal Medications
We use dewormers, flea and tick treatments, vaccines, immune boosters, treatments for mange (demodicosis and sarcoptic mange), vitamins, bandages, disinfectants, wound ointments, and drops for ears and eyes. “Human” medications like antibiotics, cough syrup, eye drops, and even homeopathic remedies are also helpful — if you have unused medicine at home, we’ll gladly accept it! We are always in need of medical gloves (sizes M and L).

Household Supplies
We need basins, large pots, food bowls, laundry detergent, floor cleaners, disinfectants (especially chlorine-based), brooms, buckets, dustpans, rubber gloves, 120-liter trash bags, and wet wipes.

And of course, toys for our puppies and kittens are always welcome!

Help with Adoption and Promotion

Our main goal is to find loving homes for our animals. We search for kind and caring families not only in Montenegro, but also in Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Italy, Norway — and beyond. The most valuable help you can offer is spreading the word and helping our furry friends find their forever homes. You can share and distribute flyers, post online and in local newspapers, talk to friends and family who might be looking to adopt, stay in touch with the new families and offer guidance and support as the animals adjust to their new lives. Every share, post, or conversation could lead to a happy ending for one of our rescued lives.

Creative Support

We need your creativity and talent! If you’re a photographer, videographer, web designer, graphic artist, writer, or someone who knows how to promote ideas and capture attention — you can make a real difference. We are always looking for passionate people who can help us tell the stories of our animals through powerful visuals, engaging content, and fresh ideas. Whether it’s taking photos or videos, designing posters and flyers, improving our website, writing articles or social media posts, or launching a creative campaign — your skills matter. If you have an idea that could help our animals find homes, raise funds, or simply shine a light on their lives, don’t hesitate — get in touch with us. We’d love to hear from you!

Foster Care for Dogs

Sometimes we need to place dogs in temporary foster homes outside the shelter — whether due to medical reasons (non-contagious to humans), special behavioral needs, or simply to ease overcrowding. We also often need help with short-term foster care in other cities or countries, while the dog awaits transport to their forever home. If you can open your home — even just for a little while — please let us know. Thanks to Montenegro’s mild climate, it’s not always necessary to keep a dog indoors; even a small, fenced outdoor area next to your home can make a big difference.

Help with Tranfer

We often send our animals to loving homes in different countries, and for that, we frequently need help with transportation to places like Russia, Germany, and Croatia. If you’re traveling and could take one or two lucky companions with you — whether you’re heading home or on a trip — please let us know. We’ll take care of all the necessary paperwork and provide travel crates. All we ask from you is to accompany them on their journey to a better life.

Other Help

If you live in or are visiting Montenegro, you can help local stray animals directly — simply by feeding them near your home or workplace, offering basic medical care if you can, or building a small shelter to protect them from the cold and heavy winter rains. Even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference in their lives.
